18th & 19th Century British Art in Context: Tradition, Reform, and the Shock of the New

A Travel / Educational Experience & course for credit conducted by Dr. Belle Pendleton,Associate Professor of Art History & Academic Specialist in English Art.
Repeating other successful summer trips to the United Kingdom with Dr. Santoro, Dr. Pendleton is offering a summer art history course in the United Kingdom with a ten-day stay in London including two out-of-London daytrips. London is a 24/7 city. Visit all the important London sites - The British Museum Egyptian and Elgin Marbles collections (with private lectures conducted by British Museum Egyptologists in the monumental storage rooms and Egyptian antiquities research rooms not open to the public), meeting with a member of the British House of Commons inside the 19th century Gothic Revival Houses of Parliament; changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace; Tower of London; Tate Galleries; Victorian & Albert Museum; National Gallery; the 18th century Chiswick House; the “Moorish”- styled Royal Pavilion in Brighton; London theatre and nightlife - study and shopping excursions to Harrod's and Liberty of London, well known for their Egyptian and Japanese inspired décor. Daily breakfast included at the St. Giles Hotel in London 's central Bloomsbury district very near to the British Museum. Farewell banquet at the Sherlock Holmes Pub. English High Tea in Yorktown before departure.
